Austin Engagement Photographer | Marci and Daniel

Happy February, friends! What a great day to share Marci and Dan’s pictures with you!

Marci and Daniel are getting married in July. I was so excited to meet them while they were in town over Christmas visiting family. We had spoken so much on the phone, and I had befriended two people I hadn’t even met yet. They live in one of my favorite cities, San Diego.  Marci and I talked a lot about how different living in California is than living in Texas. There’s a different mentality and way of life. My husband and I found that a lot of people were very transient – always thinking about the next place they would live because most never intended to stay in SD. We instantly bonded over our CA stories.

I was so anxious to talk with them more, so before their session we met at the Galaxy Cafe. (YUM.) By the time we were set to go outside for photos, we had belly laughed at Dan’s jokes and discussed California in great detail.

You two are so much fun. Thank you for asking me to be your wedding photographer. I am thrilled to get to know you guys, to reminisce over San Diego with you, and cannot wait for your wedding day!

Engagement Rings

It’s so special to see what each groom chooses for his bride to wear as a symbol of his love. Engagement rings are so much fun for me to photograph – every girl’s is different, has a story, and reflects her style.

I hadn’t seen a band like Nicole’s that crisscrossed. I love it! So elegant and classy.

Vista on Seward Hill Wedding | Paige and Matt, Part 02

If you swung by the blog yesterday to check out part one of Matt and Paige’s wedding photos, thank you! If not, here’s a link for you to go view them.

I decided to separate their wedding into two parts because I felt like there were just so many moments I wanted to showcase. I didn’t want to bog down the Internet with one big post, and hopefully each post loads a little faster for you since I’ve broken thinks down into two posts.  It would take forever for all the images to load if they were all together.

One of my favorite, favorite parts of Matt and Paige’s wedding was her memorable first dance with her Dad. I’ve seen some beautiful, emotional, make-me-cry-behind-my-camera dances with dads. I don’t think that I’d ever experienced one quite like this though. Paige and her dad had a tough time holding back the tears as the danced. All of their guests were circling the dance floor, watching as her dad held her close and choked back his own tears.

Another crazy/fun thing I loved were the reindeer antlers and Santa hats that the bridesmaids and groomsmen sported during the reception. It made the pictures even more unique and special. They all had a great time and were super playful out on the dance floor.

I could just gush on and on about this day. I’m going to officially stop, and let you see for yourself.  Paige and Matt’s wedding vendors are listed at the bottom of the post.

Church at Canyon Creek Wedding | Matt and Paige, Part 01

One afternoon last summer, I had an email pop up in my inbox. It said something like, “Hi! I’ve been referred your way by my friend Jessica. You just photographed her engagements and we are looking to book a wedding photographer for our December wedding.” This email began the process of meeting with Paige and her mom, Vicki, and becoming Paige and Matt’s wedding photographer. You might remember Jessica’s wedding. She and Paige were bridesmaids in each others weddings.  It was such a touching experience to be able to see two friends take part in each others weddings. I cannot thank Jessica enough for spreading the word about Urban Grey and having faith in me to not only do a great job at her wedding, but also one of her best friend’s.

I didn’t meet Matt until their engagement session because until right before then, he’d been living out-of-state. I knew from the first five minutes of seeing these two together how perfect they are for each other. I’d never seen Paige look happier, laugh more, or relax as much as when she was in his presence. Their engagement session went down as one of my favorite to shoot last year because they were just so incredible to work with.

Going into their wedding day, I was anxious. You see, we’d had an atrocious week of rainy, dreary days before their wedding. Paige and I kept constantly refreshing the weather reports to see what to expect for their wedding day. The reports stated a chance of rain. Thirty percent was the last report, but the week of, their guesses varied from ten to sixty percent. I told Paige that no matter how cold (did I mention it was finally beginning to act like winter before their wedding and it was also freezing!?) it got, if it was a perfect day without rain, I was theirs to go outside for beautiful pictures.

Thankfully, the rain stayed away – it had pretty much completely stopped by the time I arrived at the Church at Canyon Creek. Their wedding went flawlessly. Per my new norm, I have had a terrible job narrowing down the photos to blog. So, for your viewing pleasure, I’m treating you to two full posts of Matt and Paige’s wedding.

Enjoy! Leave them your congratulations below, and remember to come back tomorrow for Part Two!

No Email Over the Weekend

Hello, everyone!

Happy Friday! Another week of 2012 has flown by.

I just wanted to drop by to let you know that I won’t have access to my email or phone today through Sunday. I’m going to be away at a conference. Please know that I will return emails and phone calls on Monday.

Because every post needs a photograph, I’m sharing two frames from Greece with you today. Both were taken in Heraklion, Greece while on a walk with Dustyn. If you’d like to see another frame, check out Magan’s Lens today. I posted one over there, too.

Have a great weekend!

-Magan
