A New York Anniversary Session with Estelle and James

In March, Dustyn, my mom, and I made a trip to New York City. My mom had never been and we wanted to explore with her. We saw a Broadway show or two, walked until our feet throbbed, and saw the sights of New York in between eating delicious food. One of the things I was most looking forward to was meeting up with my friend Estelle. I met her at Carly and David’s wedding last year, and we’ve kept in touch ever since. In fact, we started a side project because we both love to read so much and connected over books. (Check out our book review blog, Rather Be Reading.)

When I booked our tickets to New York, Estelle asked me if I would be up for photographing an anniversary session for she and James. Of course I said yes! We had all booked tickets to see Once (the musical) together, so we met up beforehand to take pictures. We met near Bryant Park, but navigated through the streets to find pretty buildings or great light.

Estelle is a dear friend of mine. Getting to know her over the last year has been incredible. She’s my constant companion while I’m working through each day, always keeping me company on google chat. It was so awesome to meet her other half, James, and to laugh along with whatever silly thing popped out of one of our mouths. I wish I had more time with them. Maybe one day they’ll move to Austin. A girl can hope.

We wanted a new bio picture for Rather Be Reading, so we had Dustyn to take a picture of us together. While I was adjusting my settings for him, I snuck in a few sneaky pictures of Estelle. :)

Vintage Villas Wedding: Liz & Bobby

2012 has started off with a bang for me. I’m meeting the most amazing couples, working on sessions that are really outside the box, and photographing beautiful weddings with incredible couples, awesome wedding parties, and fun details.

You might remember Liz and Bobby from their engagement session. They’re fun and playful. They love to laugh and have a good time. I expected nothing less on their wedding day. It was a cold, but beautiful, day. Things in Texas were starting to (finally) green up a bit. Everything ran on schedule, just as it should, thanks to the awesome coordinator at Vintage Villas.

Bobby grinned BIG as Liz walked down the aisle to him. After the ceremony, they were so relaxed and at ease. It would’ve been hard to wipe the smiles off their faces.

A big thanks to my friend James Dvorscak for photographing Liz and Bobby’s Vintage Villas wedding with me!

Courtyard on St. James: Christine + Michael, a preview

I can’t wait to share Christine and Michael’s wedding at the Courtyard on St. James in Houston with you in it’s entirety so I can tell you about all the beautiful things that happened on Sunday. I began looking through their pictures today and I’m just so excited for my friend.

Look at how happy she was to see Michael during their first look on the balcony of the Courtyard on St. James in Houston:

Engagement Session at the Long Center with Renee and Pete

I’m flip-flopping the order in which these pictures were shot because I LOVED the last photos we ended our session with. We began at South Congress, and then ended Renee and Pete’s engagement session at the Long Center.

Renee and Pete will be married in Austin in May. They currently live up north, and were down for an engagement party thrown by Renee’s family. It was a busy weekend as they checked lots of things off their to-do list. You’ll see that we were given a beautiful day for their engagement session, but that also resulted in every single person residing within a 50 mile radius of Austin being outside as well. Particularly on South Congress.

We made the craziness work and had a lot of fun together!

I’m so anxious for your wedding. Thanks for taking the time to walk the streets of Austin with me, to lay in the (cold) grass, and for allowing me to get to know you guys better!

This is an absolutely silly, off-topic question, but I was just reminded. A few of their photographs (not shown) were taken in the South Congress book store. The Hunger Games (!!!) just came out today! Are you going to go see it?! Count me (and about 10 of our neighbors) in.

Austin Bridal Portraits | Whitney

Say hello the newest Urban Grey Mrs!

Whitney and John Michael were married this month in Caldwell, TX. That also happens to be where we photographed her bridal portraits. Nestled far away from the highway is a beautiful house that we were allowed to use for her bridal portraits. We were desperately concerned with the weather and rain that had been coming and going for days.

Luckily, Whitney has a great mom who rallied a team to help make sure her dress was protected and taken care of while we were outside. Thank you to all the ladies who helped out that day – I really appreciate your extra help and for also making Whitney feel so comfortable and at ease.

As I’ve mentioned, I’m terribly behind on blogging. I’m just going to share a few from this session because I need to get back to culling wedding images and planning for all the upcoming sessions/weddings. I couldn’t allow these to not be shown in some way though!
