Hello! We’re the Blasig Family!
In the coming months, many, many, many of you will get engaged, and you’ll schedule lots of face-to-face meetings with your vendors in public locations. You’ll walk into a crowded room potentially not know exactly what the person looks like. (And if they’re anything like me, though I’ve posted tons of photographs of my husband and I on here over the years, I’ve changed my hair color more than a time or two.)
I wanted to reintroduce who I am, right now, at the end of 2014. The cuties you see with me in the images are my husband, Dustyn, and our beautiful daughter, Everett. At the time Sherry took these photographs of us, she was seven months old. She’ll be celebrating her first birthday in February. (*insert major sob session*) She’s our biological daughter, though we were previously foster parents to a little girl for almost a year, trained and licensed through Arrow Child & Family Ministries. My family … they’re my people. They excite me and I love that I’ve been chosen to be Dustyn’s wife and she our special girl. They are my joy and my delight. You’ve been fairly warned that they’ll likely come up in some regard when we meet.
Dustyn and I celebrated ten years of marriage in July. We’ve lived in Austin for 9 of those years, with the exception being when we moved to San Diego for a year. I love architecture and color and vibrancy and currently have an obsession with stripes. But I also appreciate the quiet calm of nature and the ability to get away from the chaos to quietly focus and get to know a couple. The two keys that tie a session together are beautiful light and two people willing to let loose so I can get to know them. I love that my job offers so much variation and can be tailored to a couple, never making any day redundant or monotonous for me.
When I’m not working on Urban Grey or photographing families, I’m likely trying to convince myself to make a grocery list and meal plan. I might be spending time with the girls from my Wednesday night Bible study. I could be texting one of my girlfriends about makeup and nail polish (I’m obsessed with both), or grumbling to Dustyn about how sore I am from my workout that day (I’ve become quite taken with the classes my 24 Hour Fitness offers). I spend quite a lot of time reading (for fun and parenting information because I certainly don’t have all of that figured out) or working on a side blogging project with one of my best friends in New York.
This is just a small glimpse of who I am. I hope I have the opportunity to sit down with you over a cup of freshly brewed coffee so that I, in turn, can begin to get to know you.
Congratulations on your engagement! Enjoy the planning process — soak it all up. It goes by so, so quickly.
