Chalk it up to today being Valentine’s Day, but I’m feeling extra sappy. I’ve had some great conversations via text or on twitter today with my girlfriend’s about love. We all show love in different ways. Dustyn and I decided to have a very chill Valentine’s Day this year — we went to dinner and we were going to see Identity Thief last night. BUT, he also took me to Half Price Books where I browsed books for much, much too long and we missed our movie. (It’s okay — he’s a book nerd, too, so this wasn’t a big deal.)
Dustyn and I try to make a point of having frequent date nights and making sure we’re taking time to have dinner together without our phones, Facebook, or email present. Some people don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day at all, but maybe the point isn’t that love has to be celebrated on a specific day each year. Show your other half you love them every day. Take time to talk or express your love in ways they’ll appreciate — clean up the dishes after dinner, leave little love notes somewhere unexpected, or make eye contact so that the “I Love You” that follows is meaningful.
Today I’m happily working on Blair and Nick’s engagement session. Something about this particular image makes me so happy. Every time I look at it, I can’t help but think of “Wherever you go, I will follow you.” I’m pretty sure those are lyrics in multiple songs. I’ve tried looking it up, but to no avail.
Friends, Happy Valentine’s Day! Enjoy your day with your loved ones. Snuggle closer, hug longer, and tell someone you love them.
