I’ve wanted to share these pictures with you for a while; in fact, it’s just simply been that I’ve ben on the GO so much lately. Last November, Dustyn and I were photographed by one of my favorite people, Shannon Cunningham. She’s wonderfully sweet, super funny, and amazing at her job. I posted on my Facebook wall that I wanted to have new pictures of Dustyn and I taken. Shannon and I began discussing the possibility, and TA DA! the date was scheduled.
Photography isn’t just something that means a lot to me because it’s my job. It’s something that means a lot to me because I love my husband and I love our life together. We both work long hours and our schedules are pretty irregular because my sessions and weddings tend to be all across the board. When we’re together though, I love every single second of it. He makes me laugh harder than anyone I’ve ever met. There will be times at night when I’m belly laughing so hard I can’t fall asleep because he’s either a) making fun of me (lovingly of course) or b) telling me a story about his day.
December marked our tenth anniversary together (since we’d started dating – we’ve been married for 7.5 years now). I wanted to really celebrate the time we’ve spent together, and the session seemed like the best idea. And hey, we’d have new photos to hang in our home (I’ve been pretty selective about the holes I’ve punctured in the wall, so this is a BIG DEAL.)
I contacted my very favorite make-up artist / hair stylist / make-me-look-fabulous lady, Angela at Lucy Marie, about doing my hair and make-up. I always recommend this to brides, so I thought I should take my advice. I spent countless hours contemplating our outfits; oh wow, do I have a major appreciation for how much effort and time my brides put into this each week. Dustyn’s turned out to be a lot easier than mine. I called in my fashionista friend, Sherry, for some guidance and her honest opinion. We decided not to be super matchy-matchy because… hey, we aren’t like that in real life. We wanted pops of color to liven things up. I wore crazy reddish orange tights from Anthropologie that matched perfectly with the red stripes in Dustyn’s plaid shirt. I often wear colorful tights and dresses, and Dustyn’s usually pretty low-key and simple, so this fit us perfectly.
I honestly cannot thank Shannon, Angela, and Sherry for all their time and for making that day so special. I felt so pretty and so special that day. I’m so happy with our new photos. We have three canvases hanging above our bed that I’m in LOVE with, and I’m trying to restrain myself from wallpapering the rest of the walls with them.
I’m so excited to be spending my life with such an awesome, kind, generous man. He keeps me grounded and is always looking out for me. It’s so awesome to be able to see the friendship and love we share captured for forever.
