Not long after that, they moved away to Korea. I had one last coffee with Hannah and we chatted about our love of Harry Potter. I got in my car and cried to Dustyn about how I felt like I was losing a friend. Thanks to social media (Facebook) and Instagram, Hannah and I have been able to keep tabs on one another. She even mailed me a copy of one of my favorite Harry Potter books – translated to Korean!
They are currently back in the States, soon to move to Colorado. Months ago, Hannah contacted me about doing a wedding anniversary session. We lucked out and were able to schedule the session for their actual anniversary. They brought along their wedding cake, a few drinks, and a couple of forks. We set up under the canopy of several beautiful trees. I photographed them as they cut and ate their wedding cake. We then spent a bit of time together taking a few photographs to document who they are now so that one day they can look back and compare how they’ve changed throughout their first year of marriage.
After the session, we stood by my car for so long – I just wanted to absorb every story about Korea I could. How different their life was there. How changed their perspective is now. (I feel like Yoda for writing those sentences as I did. Oops.)
Congratulations, Hannah and Joshua! Here’s to dozens more anniversaries!
