I’m not sure if any of you follow Urban Grey and Magan’s Lens, but if you do then you’ll recognize this couple from their non-engagement session I posted over here back in November of last year. Ashton was deployed at the time and on leave visiting Anne. While he was here, she wanted to document their time together with a few photos. I had such a fun time laughing and hanging out with them back then.
I sincerely hoped that I’d be getting a call sometime this year to photograph their wedding and engagement photos.
I was beyond thrilled when I got a text from Anne on April 15th (yes, I just checked my phone so I could remember exactly when this was). The text simply read, “soo…what does your summer look like wedding wise?” My response spattered out all the dates I was booked and expressed how happy I was when Anne replied back and said she was officially engaged. She and Ashton began their frantic search for venues that were open this summer. I cannot even explain how exciting this is – I love that they got engaged, were ready to do their engagement photos, and even more ready to be married just a few months later (the wedding is set for July). Everything is falling into place for their wedding, and I’m so thankful to be along for the ride.
So, without further ado, I introduce Anne and Ashton – officially engaged.
We had a few problems with the locations we had planned out. A wall we intended to use was graffiti-ed over. We went to a warehouse that is typically abandoned, but trucks were parked everywhere in front of it. We found ourselves at our last location, Town Lake (I just can’t get used to calling it Lady Bird Johnson Lake).
Anne had seen the pictures I took of Ashley + Chris on Town Lake. Canoes have a long history with Ashton – he’s basically a professional. ;) Of course we had to incorporate them. Anything with meaning or significance should definitely be a part of your engagement photos!
I was beyond thrilled when Anne suggested they stand in the canoe. I’m pretty sure this was a core-strengthening exercise. Ashton was already incredibly sore from a workout he’d done the day before so I said a prayer when they stood up in the canoe!
You may wonder about the next picture. Why did Magan ask them to hold hands above their heads? Well, you see… this is another Ashton thing. Anne said he will often take her hand while they’re walking through a store and hold it up high like this.
Who doesn’t love photographing a good rivalry? I am sure there’s always going to be fun and excitement during football season…well, Anne watches all kinds of sports, so probably all-year-round to be more precise.
Anne and Ashton, you are awesome. Thank you for asking me to be a part of your wedding. I am so excited to have spent the day with you. I can’t wait to see how all the planning comes together. I wish you nothing but the best. Enjoy every passing second of your engagement!
