Six and a half years ago when I got married, the trend was still to receive a proof book of wedding images. I had no idea what a wedding album even was. Now that I’m a photographer, I am quite envious over some of the albums that I get the chance to design for my clients. They are books that tell the story of their wedding day. They’re one of a kind albums that can be passed down to future generations. They reflect who you are.
The time was long overdue for me to get new sample albums. When I went to ImagingUSA this year, I specifically went with the goal to find new album companies. I walked around the trade show floors scoping out what I thought would best fit the clients of Urban Grey. I’ll be ordering a lot more samples from these guys to share with you, but here is the first set I’ve received.
These four albums are all the same design inside, but I ordered a set of varying options to show a range of sizes and covers. The bottom two are 9×12, the middle size is 6×9, and the smallest is 4×5. You will see the two with “Carly + David” are image wrap covers – one of their wedding images wraps the entire front and back of the album. The grey is a silk and the cognac is a beautiful leather (and OH, am I in love with cognac right now!).
For two years, I’ve been absolutely obsessed with square albums, but these days, I’m really in love with the rectangular sizes. I loved the proportions of the 9×12 album when I was designing it.
These smaller 6×9 and 4×5 albums make fantastic gifts for your parents. They don’t really have to have the same size as you, but giving them an album or having a duplicate copy of your album is a really thoughtful gift they will enjoy.
If you’re one of my past brides and want to see these new albums in person, let’s meet at the studio so you can oooh and ahhh over the beautiful paper and awesome quality of these albums.
